Miggy's Story

Just like his older brother Gio, Miggy started at an early age of 1 year old and 8 months. He was able to adjust well as the physical presence of his brother in the open classroom made him feel comfortable. He was very observant and curious about his surroundings. He was not as expressive as Gio. He preferred to be alone when playing but this particular trait of Miggy did not make him aloof in his class. Just like Gio, he wasn’t able to perform as actively as other kids on stage but constant exposure, practice, and patience of MGP teachers plus overflowing love and support from us led him to improve his social, emotional, and cognitive skills.

Upon fetching from school during Miggy’s toddler years, one of his teachers called the attention of his grandparents. The teacher told them that Miggy had a fight with a fellow toddler. There was a feeling of anxiety on our part because what was running inside our thought bubble was that we might be called by the school administrator to talk to his classmate together with his parents. But then, the teacher explained that after Miggy cried out loud his anger and frustrations, he said a heartfelt "sorry" to the offended party. We talked to Miggy about what had happened. He cried to us. He accepted that he was wrong and he uttered the word “sorry.”

We began to realize that the magic words that we often teach our boys in our own abode and likewise the teachers of MGP, somehow were instilled in the deepest core of his being in this particular incident. MGP’s awareness of this kind of incident made us feel that our kid was in the right place in building not just our kid's education but also their values.

Sorry seems to be the hardest word to say. We all make mistakes. It is such a challenging endeavor. Oftentimes, it is hard to admit that you have hurt someone’s feelings. But when you utter the magic word to someone, it is so powerful. It gives you peace. It takes courage to say it and admit that we are wrong. This was the experience of our little Miggy in his early years journey in MGP.

We would like to thank the MGP community for extending our role as parents to our little boy Miggy.
